Joyce Burkett, 74, of Xenia, IL, passed away at 7:20 p.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Clay County Hospital in Flora, IL. She was born in Bluford, Illinois on January 7, 1944, to Frank & Nadene (Mills) O’Dell. In May 1965, she married Lonnie Burkett of Xenia, IL. She spent her life as a loving wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the most cherished part of her life.
Joyce is survived by her husband Lonnie Burkett of Xenia, IL; 3 sons, Johnny & Linda Burkett of Rinard, IL, David & Tammy Burkett of Xenia, IL, and Jerry & Angie Burkett of Xenia, IL; grandchildren, Terra & Rocky DeWitt of Willow Springs, MO, Amanda Schell of Flora, IL, Heather & David Gonzalez of AL, Nick & Denise Burkett of Flora, IL, Gary Burkett of Flora, IL, Elizabeth & Dylan Sill of Omega, IL, Emily Burkett of Flora, IL, Amber Burkett and Jarrett Burkett both of Xenia, IL; 1 brother David & wife Carol O’Dell of St. Charles, IL, 1 sister-in-law Sandy Thompson of Xenia, IL; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother Therrell O’Dell, and 1 sister Wanda Schaefer.
Services for Joyce will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Kohn Funeral Home in Flora, IL. Interment will immediately follow at Oddfellows Cemetery in Xenia, IL, Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the funeral home.
