Minas Elias Kassiou

Minas Elias Kassiou, 31, of Effingham, Illinois, formerly of Louisville, Illinois, passed away on May 24, 2018, at 1:30 P.M.   Minas was born to Dana Steinhoff Hawn in Maryville, Illinois, April 20, 1987.  He was a graduate of North Clay High School in 2005, and then obtained an Associate Degree at Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana.  He worked for Peerless of America in Effingham as a lead man on the paint line. He was an avid skateboarder and guitarist who loved music and performed stand-up comedy.  He was helping to build a skate park in Effingham, Illinois.

Minas is survived by his parents, Harold and Dana Hawn of Louisville, Illinois and 2 brothers, Adam Baglin, of Troy, Illinois and Anthony White of southern Illinois, Maternal grandparents, Donna and Jim Langsdorf of Waterloo, Illinois.  He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Hazel Hawn.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday May 31, 2018, with a memorial service at 7 p.m., at Kohn Funeral Home.  Expressions of sympathy should take the form of donations to Effingham Skate Park and may be accepted at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.kohnfuneralhome.com.
