Vonda June Dannells

Mrs. Vonda June (Leib) Dannells, 75, of Flora, Illinois, died at 2:14 p.m., March 4, 2016, at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora.  Vonda was born on August 7, 1940, to Arthur Albert and Ruth Pauline (Phillips) Leib in Millerville, Illinois.  She graduated from Oblong High School in 1958, where she was a majorette for the high school band, and she received her Associates degree from Olney Central College.  She also obtained her real estate license.  She married Charles Edward Rowan who preceded her in death on November 13, 1995.  In 1997, she married William Dannells who preceded her in death in October of 2009.  Vonda helped to start the first Wal-Mart store in Flora where she worked for many years.  Later, she worked at Zink’s Convenience Store.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Olney, Illinois.  Vonda loved gardening and flowers.  No weeds would dare grow in her garden.  Most of all, she truly loved her family.

Vonda is survived by her daughter, Connie Kuhlig of Flora, IL, grandson, Chad Kuhlig and wife Nicole of Louisville, IL, sisters, Lovell Vallette and husband Gary of Albion, IL, Pauletta Hough and husband Danny of Noble, IL, Leona Grace Duck of Battlecreek, MI, brother, Harold Leib and wife Ruthann of Flora, IL, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and sisters, Avis, Delores, Amelia, and Patricia.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Kohn Funeral Home in Flora, IL.  Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at the funeral home.  Interment will immediately follow at Orchard Hill Cemetery in Louisville, IL.  Expressions of sympathy should take the form of donations to Clay County Hospice and may be received at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.kohnfuneralhome.com.
