Ruby L. Hurst

Mrs. Ruby L. Hurst, 89, of Flora, Illinois, died at 10:39 a.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Clay County Hospital in Flora.  Ruby was born on May 2, 1927, to Fred Lee and Grace (Hill) Koskie in Ardmore, Oklahoma.  She graduated from Flora Township High School.  Ruby married Hank Lipka who precedes her in death, and she later married S.R. Hurst who also precedes her in death.  She attended beauty college in Decatur, Illinois, where she earned her certification as a licensed beautician.  She worked as a beautician for many years and later, worked at the Clay County Health Department until her retirement. 

Ruby is survived by her sisters, Aletha Koskie of Flora, IL, Thelma Jean Agnes and husband Joe of Gun Barrel City, TX, brothers, Bo Koskie and wife Barb of Flora, IL, Richard Glenn Koskie and wife Ilene of Georgetown, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and brothers, Fred Lee Koskie Jr. and Earl Thomas Koskie. 

Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Kohn Funeral Home in Flora, IL.  Private family services will be held at a later date with burial in Elmwood Cemetery in Flora.  Expressions of sympathy should take the form of donations to Flora Healthcare Center Activity Fund.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.kohnfuneralhome.com.
