Mrs. Mary Alice Gordon, 72, of Brownsburg, Indiana, passed away at 5:05 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at her daughter’s home in Flora, Illinois. Mary was born on August 21, 1942, to Elmon “Grady” and Pearl Tucker in Pike County, Kentucky. On January 9, 1960, Mary married Edwin Roy Gordon in Harvey, Illinois; he preceded her in death on August 20, 1996. Mary was a Baptist who loved the Lord and relied on him throughout her life. Her greatest joy came from being a wife and mother. In her younger years, she liked to work in her flowers. She always wanted to learn to paint, and her favorite painter was Thomas Kinkade. She loved visiting her family. She also liked to work crossword puzzles. She was a good wife, mother, sister, and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her three daughters, Sherry Whitehead of Flora, Illinois, Theresa Hoover-Gordon of Brownsburg, Indiana, and Diane Gordon of Indianapolis, Indiana, five grandchildren, Melissa Thoman-Uribe and husband George of Joliet, Illinois, Justin Uribe and wife Olivia of Plainfield, Indiana, Nicholas Uribe of Indianapolis, Indiana, Jamie Osborne and husband Chris of Peotone, Illinois, and Daniel Ray Kmety Jr. of Grant Park, Illinois, and 6 great grandchildren, four siblings, Loretta “Carol” Brown of Florida, Granville “Lee” Tucker of Tennessee, Wanda Grigsby of Kentucky, and Darlene Burton of Indiana. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Pearl Tucker, husband, Edwin Roy Gordon, and two brothers, Ernest “Cleo” Tucker and Alfred Tucker.
Funeral services will be Sunday, December 14, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Kohn Funeral Home in Flora, IL. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 13, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Kohn Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Iuka Cemetery in Iuka, Illinois.
