Ms. Josephine “Jody” Akers, 75, of Flora, Illinois, died at 10:26 a.m., Monday, February 8, 2016, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois. Josephine was born on July 27, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, to Paul and Florence M. (Chesney) Mc Aleese. Jody was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching dancing and court TV shows and watching and discussing American Idol and The Bachelor with her sister. She truly loved her family; she treasured spending time with her grandchildren and especially, their family dog, Wrigley.
Jody is survived by her children Tim Akers and wife Tiffany from Flora, IL, Joe Akers and wife Tawny of Bone Gap, IL, Mandy Price of Charleston, IL, and Preston Price of Carbondale, IL, grandchildren, Brittney Marie Campbell of Imperial Beach, California, Craig Hutson of Rosiclare, IL, Braden Hutson of Bone Gap, IL, Jocelyn Hall of Cisne, IL, Alexis Akers of Benton, IL, Dominick Akers of Bone Gap, IL, Savannah Payne of Charleston, IL, and Hadden Price of Charleston, IL, sisters Joan Marilyn Parcelli of Des Plaines, IL, and Roberta McAleese, nephews, Mike Parcelli and Anthony Parcelli, and many wonderful friends . Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Richard “Dick” and Mickey and by one son, Christopher.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jody will be at 6 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2016, at Kohn Funeral Home in Flora, IL. Friends may call from 4 – 6 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
