Jack J. Jacobs

December 27, 1946 ~ October 13, 2016 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Mr. Jack J. Jacobs, 69, of Flora, Illinois, died at 7:07 p.m., Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.  Jack was born at home December 27, 1946, North West of Flora. He lived most of his life in that same area. As a child he learned to hunt with his dad and continued that hobby for many years into his adulthood.  As he grew older, he decided that fishing was more appropriate for an older man of his age. He, with family members and friends, spent many hours on the water searching for the ideal spot to catch crappy. He loved to fry up a batch of fish and hush puppies and share with friends and family. Most recently Jack spent many hours helping his son, Jerrin, rebuild an old truck which was going to be the wood hauling truck, so it was nick named the WOOD TRUCK. Even though he had not been feeling well, he would work awhile and rest awhile while working on the truck. He did not want to stay inside during the spring, summer and fall. He was an avid gardener.  He loved being outside those three months but the winter months he would stay in and enjoy the wood heat. He and Jerrin spent many autumn days and evenings cutting and stacking wood. He was very particular about the lawn and weed eating. He spent many hours on the mower to maintain a well-kept lawn. Jack married Dianna Bryan on May 27, 1967, at Mt Zion Church east of Flora. He and Dianna moved to the Joliet area, and he worked at the Ammunition Plant. While in that area his first child, a daughter, Kanda Michelle, was born in 1973. In 1976 Jack and Dianna decided to move back to Flora, and he started working at World Color Press in Salem. In 1977, his second child, a son, Jerrin Bryan, was born, completing their family of four.

Jack is survived by his wife, Dianna and son, Jerrin, both of Flora, grandson, Aaron Clark (Kelly) of Fairfield and granddaughter, Ashley Jacobs of Flora, great grandsons, Noah and Benny. He is also survived by his sister, Marge (Richard) of Joliet, IL and Kay (Bob) of Joliet, IL many nieces and nephews and other family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Helen, his daughter, Kanda, sister, Dorothy Ann and brothers Ronal and Charles (Laverne), niece Shari Norton, and childhood friend Fred Klanke.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Kohn Funeral Home in Flora, Illinois.  Friends may call from 12:00 - 2:00 on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Golden Cemetery in Louisville.  Expressions of sympathy should take the form of donations to Clay County Animal Rescue and Shelter (CCARS).  Online condolences may be expressed at www.kohnfuneralhome.com.
