Mr. George Burkett Burgess, 82, of Xenia, Illinois, died at 2:15 p.m., Monday, December 7, 2015, at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora. George was born on June 14, 1933, in Xenia, IL, to Robert and Flossie (Burkett) Burgess. On February 14, 1953, George married Shirley McBride in Flora, IL. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Zenith, IL. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, trap shooting at Xenia and gardening.
George is survived by his wife, Shirley (McBride) Burgess of Xenia, Illinois, daughter, Connie Bradham of Austin, Texas, son, Randy Burgess of Xenia, Illinois, grandsons Jeff Klein-Bradham and Michael Bradham of Austin, Texas, great grandchildren Jacob Klein-Bradham and Irie Bradham, and by two nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother, Howard and two brothers, Volney Eugene and Robert Burgess and one infant daughter, Cathy.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Zenith, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 11, 2015, at Kohn Funeral Home in Flora, Illinois. Expressions of sympathy should take the form of donations to Brush Creek Church.
