Mrs. Dollie Mae (Payne) Farris, former longtime Flora resident, 86, passed away peacefully at home in Phoenix, Arizona, on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. She was born in Flora, Illinois, on July 18, 1928, to Effie Elizabeth and Clarence George Payne. Dollie lived most of her life in Flora where she worked many years at the original East End Café and was a member of the First Methodist Church, as well as a member of the Board. She later moved to Arizona in 2002 where she resided until the time of her death.
Dollie leaves behind 4 children, Donna (Shehorn) Gagnon of Glendale, AZ, Connie (Shehorn) Dow of Phoenix, AZ, Bill Farris of Flora, and Gina (Farris) & Clay Jenkins of Glendale, AZ. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, 2 sisters Zelda Devore and Elsie Phelps, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, and 1 sister.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Kohn Funeral Home in Flora. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, followed by a reception at the First Methodist Church.
