Deanna J. (Borton) Giddens

Deanna J. Giddens, age 67, died at 7:55 a.m., Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora, IL.  She was born March 10, 1949, in Peoria, IL to Frederick and Betty (Knotts) Borton.  She spent her years growing up between Peoria and Southern Illinois.  She was of the Baptist faith. She was also a great cook and actually made her career as a cook, eventually taking a job with American Commercial Barge Lines, as a cook on their river cruises.  This was a fun and exciting time for her and she was able to experience many different places.  She worked for ACBL until the time of her retirement. 

Besides her love of cooking she loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her son John Giddens of Flora, IL; five grandchildren, Brandon, Brock, and Rayce Giddens all of Flora, Shannon Borton of Flora, Shania Pickens and husband Lee of Flora, several great grandchildren, and one brother, Charles Borton of Orchardville, IL.  She was preceeded in death by her parents, 1 sister and 1 brother.

As per Deanna’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded and a private family burial will take place at a later date. She is in the care of Kohn Funeral Home.  Expressions of Sympathy should take the form of donations to Clay County Hospice and may be received at the funeral home at any time.  Online condolences  may be sent at www.kohnfuneralhome.com.
