Bertha Atteberry

Mrs. Bertha Atteberry, 84, of Flora, Illinois, died at 12:04 p.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Clay County Hospital in Flora, Illinois.  Bertha was born on April 26, 1930, to Purley and Bertha (Chase) Painter.  Bertha married James Atteberry, who preceded her in death 23 years ago.  She was a homemaker who was devoted to her family.  Spending time with her family was her greatest love.   

Bertha is survived by her devoted companion and beloved dog, Lucky, children, Larry Pierce and wife Lorraine of Leblanc, LA, Tony H. Fulk and wife Lois of Flora, IL, Dianne Miselbrook of Louisville, IL, Frank Fulk of Flora, IL, and Kathy Schoonover of Effingham, IL, grandchildren, Larry Wayne Pierce and wife Yvonne of Olney, IL, Heather Pierce of La Blanc, LA, Anthony Fulk of Flora, IL, John Wesley Fulk and special friend Jeannie Cochran of Effingham, IL, Diona Griffy and husband Andy of Louisville, IL, Tanya Powless and special friend Dennis McPeak of Louisville, IL, Michael Field and special friend April Birdsell of Colchester, IL, Brad Marlow and fiancé Chelsea Birch of Flora, IL, Christopher Schoonover of WI, Kevin Bare of Effingham, IL, Theresa Niewiadomski of Effingham, IL, Chet Pierce and wife Pam of Effingham, IL, Marada Zumbahlen of Effingham, IL, Samantha Carter and fiancé Courtney Boehm of Effingham, IL, James Holste and wife Amber of Flora, IL, 42 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren, sisters, Mary Roome and husband Gerald of Toledo, IL, and Maxine Wheatley of Mason, IL.  Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Purley and Bertha Painter, her husband, James Atteberry, daughters, Connie Carter, and Mary and husband Tom Holste, granddaughter, Amanda Pierce, brothers, Pearly Painter, Clarence Painter, Roy Painter, and Herman Painter, and sister, Pauline Bushue.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2015, at Kohn Funeral Home in Flora, IL.  Visitation will be held Sunday, January 4, 2015, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Kohn Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Bible Grove, IL.
