April Dawn Hurd

Ms. April Dawn Hurd, 44, of Salem, Illinois, formerly of Flora, Illinois, died Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Salem Township Hospital. On April 28, 1972, April was born to Harold and Mona (Olson) in St. Charles, Illinois. April is a 1990 graduate of Flora High School, after which, she went on to create and raise her family.   At the time of her death April worked at the Iuka & Omega General Stores.  Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.  

April is survived by her children, Andrea (David) Branch of Salem, IL, Zackary Eastin of Salem, IL, Griffin Eastin of Salem, IL, father and stepmother, Harold “Sparky” & Julie Hurd of Flora, IL, grandchildren, Landon Hurd, Alexis Hurd, Charles Branch, & Waylon Branch, all of Salem, IL, sister Erica (Randy) Abner of Dickinson, ND, brother Lance (Jennifer) Hurd of Flora, IL, step brother, Ethan (Carly) Book of Utica, KY, nieces and nephews, Gage (Lacey) Cobb, Donovan (Destinee) Cobb, Echoe Abner, Elsie Abner, Jordan Kessler, Mackenzie Goff, Kyle Goff, Ava Hurd, Hallie Book and Leah Book.  April is preceded in death by her mother, Mona Hurd, and a step son, Dami Eastin.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, September 29, 2016, at 5:00 p.m., at Kohn Funeral Home.  Friends may call Thursday,  from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.   Expressions of sympathy should take the form of donations to the family and may be received at the funeral home.
